The Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra was originally formed in 1990 to appear in the David Puttnam film ‘Memphis Belle’ starring Harry Connick Junior. Such was the impact of the orchestra on the film crew and musicians that Greg Francis decided to keep the band together and has never looked back since. The Memphis Belle Swing Orchestra played at the premiere of the film in Leicester Square in front of the Duchess of Kent and since then the orchestra have been playing all over the country at 1940’s style hangar dances, private parties, holiday camps, universities, theatres and lots of other prestigious events.
The orchestra consists of top class young musicians from all over the UK. They all dress in the American 8th Army Uniform and as well as sounding fantastic they really look great too. With the stage decorated in giant American and English flags, and also a giant 8th American badge in the centre of the stage.
The Memphis Belle Lindy Hoppers – a young couple who can jitterbug like you’ve never seen before soon have everybody up on the dance floor.
